Rhonda entered the University of Kansas as a National Merit Scholar and recipient of the prestigious Watkins-Burger Scholarship in 1985, awarded to the top 6 freshman entering KU. Following law school graduation, Rhonda clerked for the Kansas Court of Appeals between 1993 and 1995, before beginning practice in the areas of criminal and civil law, including equine and agricultural law.
Capitalizing on her appellate background, from 1996 to 2010 Rhonda’s practice concentrated primarily on appellate civil and criminal work, although she continued with her equine practice. In 2010, she adjusted her practice to focus more on civil and probate litigation at the trial level, and on assisting small business owners, while maintaining her equine law practice. Rhonda has successfully assisted many small business owners maximize profits while minimizing their personal risks. Rhonda has also worked with many minority, women, and disadvantaged business owners in obtaining government certification that allows them additional government contracting opportunities. In addition, Rhonda remains an active equestrian and has assisted a variety of equine organizations with both legal organization documents and liability issues.
Not only is Rhonda a member of the American Bar Association on the Construction Industry, but she was also a co-author and speaker at the National Construction Forum’s presentation on obtaining Minority/Women/Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Certification. Rhonda is also a member of the American Bar Association Civil and Appellate Litigation divisions. She is a member of the Kansas and Missouri Bar Association. She has been recognized as a “Who’s Who among Female Attorneys.
